happy love day {a giveaway!}

_MG_4507

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.

I have been feeling all kinds of love around here.

I am one lucky girl.

I was practicing my new skills via Pioneer Woman. She said it in a way that I finally got it! One step closer to putting my camera on M. (how does PW do it all?)

My kids celebrated at school yesterday.

They brought color-your-own valentines (a lot of effort went into each one!)

and Playdo in the appropriate valentine colors (available at your local grocier).

Dressing in a festive fashion. She never wears those boots. She claims they are too bright. She wears that tutu to school all the time. I must be missing something.

the beeg weenah!

_MG_3376

Sorry I’m late! I got a little busy and ran out of time.

But this morning after the big kids were on the bus and the babies were back in bed, I had the middle child pick a name out of a pottery bowl that my little mommy made.

She chose…

Lucky Candice!

She’s lucky yet again. I’m thinking of dubbing myself Lucky Brittany just because that will undoubtedly change my entire life.

Thanks for playing with me.

Just so you know, as I was cutting out your little names and placing them into the bowl my heart was happy looking at this collection of people that I love. Thanks for making my life feel full of good people which in turn brings joy.

I’m planning on doing a few more give-aways before Christmas, so stay tuned…

Smooches,
Britt

let's celebrate.

_MG_2156-1

I’m 34 today! So in celebration, I decided to have a little sale over at the shop.
All aprons are $34.00 in honor of my birthday
and there will be free shipping on all items until Christmas.

(Because I’m tired of paying for shipping and I figured you were too.)

And now for a give-way...

I want to give someone a 4 oz. bottle of my handmade lotion.

To enter, just tell me something that you're thankful for in 3 words or less in the comments. I'll pick the big winnah on Saturday. (enter from now until Friday 11/20, midnight)

a giveaway

here's a little sneaky peeky of what's being given at Jenica's bloggie:

_MG_1551

Last year I felt like I was in a brand new high school (only one with all girls) when I got my tray and filled it up with food wondering where I should sit down to eat. Squam Art Workshops had begun and I had never met a soul. I recognized some of these beauties from thier blogs and when Jenica and Nina walked into the dining hall, I thought, "If I don't do this now, it will never happen." So I stood up and walked over and said, "Jenica! Nina!" And to my utter astoundment they said, "Brittany!" They knew who I was! It was like a little miracle. They ushered me to thier table where other sweet souls were and there was an instant bond with these women. Instant comfort. Instant acceptance. Instant love.

This year although I am not in thier cabin, Jenica invited me to be a part of thier giveaway countdown along side of beloved Nina Beana. Next Wednesday I will drive down that little dirt road and carry my paints and my camera into a cabin full of amazing women; I will carry my creative spirit into a setting filled with other creative spirits and we will all rejoice at the beauty of it all.

So head on over to The One Little One and enter yourself into a giveaway. Go on! It will be fun:)

spreading the love (with a giveaway at the end!)

The first chord I heard of Ray LaMontagne’s I was hooked and then I heard his voice and lyrics and I was in love. I played him for Jake and he said, “He sounds like Van Morrison or Elvis Costello or something.” My reply was, “yeah, but way better!” His songs make me feel something so deeply. (And we get to see him next month live! Yippee!)

It’s great to find someone who has a familiar sound, a sound that you’ve always loved and keep going back to, but they’ve made the sound better than the original. (Did that make sense?) That’s how I feel about Johnny Lloyd Rollins. I got introduced to his music through one of my best friends in High School (he’s her brother!) and now I’m a drooling, adoring fan.

I’ll give you a few links if you want to check him out…click here for yummy video of him performing Let's Be Poor Together, here to go to his myspace and listen to more music, here to go to his website, and of course youtube has lots of videos to choose from.

Here’s what a few critics have said about him:

"He's been compared to Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, and, of course, a young version of the King. That's just it. You can't pin him down."--Jenny Block, D Magazine

"It's like the tunes of Buddy Holly, Elvis and Roy Orbison in a blender set on puree."--Shannon Sutleif, Dallas Morning News

"He puts a Beatles-y twist on Texas roots songs, or perhaps vice versa, with a penchant for smart lyrics and even smarter chord changes."--Jonanna Widner, The Dallas Observer

Beatles, Smeatles, they’ve got nothing on Johnny in my book. Way to take the great from the classics and put a modern twist on them to make them even better, Johnny!

Johnny recently sent me a couple CDs and I thought I would share the love. If you’d like to win his CD, Let’s Be Poor Together, just leave a comment in the comments section before Monday (9/29) morning at 12:00am and you’ll be in the drawing. Good luck!

The Big Winnah

Well, I wrote out everyone's names (only once EJ, although that was wicked smaht) and put them into a hand thrown pottery bowl made by my own mother, and I happened to pick

Carrie Ann

who is quite possibly my oldest and dearest friend. I almost feel guilty, but Jake kept me honest, I swear. No one has more integrity than that guy. Carrie is the person who made me start a blog--literally, she came and visited me and while she was here, she sat at my computer and created it for me and taught me how to post. She introduced me to Harry Connick Jr. and Les Mirables when I was 13 and said words like "lovely" and has the most interesting closet. She wore a hat and gloves to Brooke's wedding. When she found out that I was going to Stephenie Meyer's prom, she sent me a box full of fun dresses and antique jewelry. She's that kind of girl. She owns chickens and has named them after flowers. She is a creative soul. I love her. Just thought I'd tell you a bit about her.

That was fun! I'll definitely have another drawing (or as they say here in New England, "drahring") soon. Thanks for playing!

It's a clipboard, silly! Like I said, just for fun. The side where you clip your papers is flat and the words on the bottom stick out underneath them. On the backside is a bright and colorful collage.
