The Art of Life
Nothing beats a German Pancake on a Saturday morning. If I was willing to work any harder, we could have added fresh fruit or something, but instead, I just loaded up two plates and Jake and I had breakfast in the new hammock.
Speaking of art, Jake researched his hammocks pretty well, I’d say. He chose one that is not only bright and happy to look at, but comfortable to boot and as an added bonus can comfortably fit a family of five. {Well, the three smallest may add up to one of the biggest.} That is something I hope happens again—and often: Warm sunshine beaming over the trees, the breeze swinging through the yard and my whole family all cozy on a hammock together. Some days are hard to get through when you’re a mom. Sometimes I wonder why the joy isn’t more abundant when so much sacrifice is made. But you get yourself into that little situation with a hammock and the joy of it all comes together and makes a little moment of beauty. And will a belly full of a German pancake, well, I’d call it art.
I didn't want to get off the hammock to get my camera, so this picture will have to suffice--with my still-funky-ankle and all. Can you tell how nice and roomy and stripey it is?

I love your new hammock and your green pan too! What a sweet time...
... And your poor foot :( Wah.
Sounds lovely. I hear you when you say the days are sometimes hard to get through but moments like those mentioned make it all worth while, don't they?
I love love love the green pan and the hammock! Excellent photos by the way! About the hard days...I feel you there.
I simply love hammocks...our dream home is all fuzzy details, except for the wrap around porch and cozy grove of trees with hammock...
I made German pancakes on Saturday! We are living parallel lives...except for the part about the hammock and nature and three kids and my ankles feel quite sturdy at the moment...ok, nevermind, but we DID have German pancakes.
p.s. do share the results of Jame's research--where indeed did you find this beautiful thing?
Jake's research, not James
Yeah, I want to benefit from someone elses research also! Which reminds me, what about his research on one digital photo frame thingy? (Maybe you could boss him about that)! Sounds nice, and relaxing.
I love stripey things...also swollen ankles...
You must share your recipe for German pancakes! It looks yummy. We have new neighbors down the street who are from Germany. I wonder if they eat these. They have a son Gabe's age named Tobias, and I love to have him over to just listen to him talk. Such a cool accent. And when he says bye to his mother, he blows her a kiss and says "Ciao!" LOVE IT! I told my kids we should start saying Ciao and they just looked at me funny. Sounds fun to me. (?)
I love your hammock. I have always wanted one. It seems like the PERFECT place to read a book, or snuggle, or both. Yes, please share your husband's research so that we may all benefit. I need one that comes with a fan and mister attached to it and that won't fade in the sunlight. It is still in the 100's here! UGHHH!
love you, sweet cousin with the still-funky-ankle!
when you are totally bored and have time, can you send me the recipe for German pancakes? i've never heard of them before and they sound and look DELISH.
love your hammock and seeing you resting so snug on your magical stripes.
love, miss you.
