But I might be worse at French.  This morning when we got a wake up call, I answered, "Au revoir?  Oh. I mean...um..Hello?"  My brain was searching for Bonjour, but alas all I came up with was Hello.  So I answered the phone "goodbye" on my last morning in Paris and mourned our departure as our Taxi sped past the Arc d' Triumph.

However, as we boarded the boat that took us through the canal to our hotel in Venice the aged patina of the buidings showed off all their color and practically shouted their welcome!  And as I walked through the narrow alley ways bumping into people, I said, "par-dooooou" in my poor french accent and realized that I was finally getting my french right, and forgetting that I was in Italia!

We decided to wander aimlessly through the maze that is Venice.  Every corner is picturesque.  Every time you pass water, there are gondolas gliding through the water with men in stiped shirts paddling.  The rain cleared for us and the sun made the colors even brighter.

We stopped at a little cafe that had yummy looking food for dinner and I pulled a "Grandpa Hearne" and ordered dessert for dinner.  Water, a little fruit tart and hot chocolate.  The hot chocolate was like warm brownie batter.  So thick!  So delish!

Dear Little People,

Mi manca la mia famiglia.  That means, I miss my family in Italian.  (I also looked up "where is the sun" (dove e il sole) and "lovely" (bellicimo), which I said remembered to say a few times today.)  There are people selling paintings on the street.  The are so pretty!  There was also a three legged dog who leaned his one back leg against the brick of the building to pee.  If you were here I would have pointed to the little guy balancing on his front legs and we would have giggled together:).  As I was walking around today I was thinking about you and wondering which things you would want for yourselves.  If we come here together we will go on a gondola ride through the canal.  You are always there in my thoughts and I feel like the luckiest person ever to be your mom.

Love, M

I think I just threw up in my mouth. Seeing this and knowing that I am not there is actually making me physically sick. I'm not even kidding. I can't think about it a moment longer! (Brooker- Dallas is helping your husband through his alone time by making him think that since you are gone, that he is on a vacation of sorts. I deemed that very rude and sad that he thinks about a wifes absence as such!!!)
