Sunday Scribblings: Fortune Cookie

I’ve had enough fortune cookies in my life to know not to put any stock in them. In fact, I’d much rather settle for another cookie. Any other cookie. Chocolate chip? Mmmmm. I’ve got a great recipe—I’ve got it memorized, in fact. Chocolate cookie? Mmmm. I’ve got the bomb diggity recipe. Everything cookies—my son’s favorite, contain everything yummy in your pantry. As for fortune, I’ll find it somewhere else. Whenever I find it, it is because I am listening for it. In nature, talking to friends or strangers, reading, praying, cleaning, running, behind the lens, writing, painting, bathing the kids…well, maybe not then.

Plus, Chinese food always makes me sick.

How about Logic Cookies with messages like: Don’t curl your hair when it is raining outside; it will just go flat anyway when you run to the car and it gets all wet.

I could use a few here today myself...the reminder to listen for it in nature--in life, wherever I happen to be--is a good one. Thank you for it!

Oh yah! I love trying new cookie recipes. After leaving high-altitude Denver, maybe my baking will now take a turn for the better :)

Ok, so I made the bomb diggity cookies last night...my kids ate them all today, along with my husband. Did they save me any? Nope...ungrateful little crew of mine. And they wonder why I have secret stashes of things. ;)

Cookies in general are wonderful - with or without the fortune. The trick is to not eat too many. Sigh.

Haha i love it. Its so true we all need some logic cookies- to anyone who is reading this- the chocolate cookies really are amazing and are always a hit when warm with a glass of milk. ( I always credit my lovely sister for the chocolate delight). I have only gotten one good fortune cookie ever. It said, "Old age is when beautiful young girl only arouses memories instead of hopes." Hehe.
