"girl, you huge."

IMG_9358

I’m a little too worried about hills and valleys lately. There are hills where there weren’t before and valleys where there shouldn’t be valleys.

I have heard, “you JUST had twins!” several times. But now they are three months old. Do you understand what that means? It means that I have had to stand in front of my closet for almost 100 days and look for something to put on that doesn’t fit. That’s 100 days in a row that I have been a frustrated woman. And that’s not counting the time that I actually had two babies inside me. Yes, yes, I have needed time to heal, blah, blah blah. But now I want to feel like me again.

This morning after I fed the babies at 5 to 5:45am, I didn’t go back to sleep. I put on my running shoes. They were still all loose-laced from when my feet were swollen and I walked out of a hospital without my babies. I tightened them up and as I tied the bows I was grateful that at least my sneakers fit like they used to.

Pasty eyed and cotton tongued, I took to the street. Breathing in the morning air, I was glad to take the first step toward health. Was it really just a year ago that I was running this road to train for a half marathon? Yes, yes it was. And it will be this street that will help me move mountains (if you know what I mean).

Oh my gosh! i was just having this discussion with my husband this morning! I can't believe what 4 months of bedrest did to my body. And I refuse to go buy any new clothes, for I am determined to fit back into my old stuff. BUT, the hours of complete torture standing in my closet looking for something that will fit, are countless! I am so proud that you made that first step back! Good for you!

Good for *you* !!
There is nothing like giving yourself some precious time... time to energise, to more your body... to center yourself.

It is just so hard to fit in in with caring for children and family....

Deep Sigh... I need to get moving too :)

Well done you, you've inspired me too :)

Good for you!!! What a milestone. I remember trying to run when my baby was a month old and coming home in tears because I just couldn't do it. What I learned from that experience is that some things take time. Now, my baby is seven months old and I ran 6 miles on Saturday. Keep up the good work. (But give yourself a break.)

you are totally cute! It feels like not long ago I was just there, where you are. crying over my fat and saggy body, thinking it would never return.
The day I delivered I was over 200 POUNDS! Today (10 months later) I weigh in at 120 lbs!!! So it can be done :) :)
I started feeling somewhat of a woman at 4 months, but it does get better and better. My tummy wasn't actually flat (meaning I didnt look prego... the skin will continue to sag for the rest of eternity)until around 6-7 months after (but then again I had honker boys).
My advice, run because you love it. Don't rush it, your body will heal. And you will be sexy again, I PROMISE!!!!
I want to see more pics of the girls!! And some video would be awesome too.

And I forgot to say- TIME FLIES!!!! They are 3 months already??? WOW!

I so agree with Mikael, while I can't say I'm 120 (grrr.. ;) I can say the hill's and valley's that I once had after the birth of my twins, have melted away, and with hardly any exercise, or running, I got back to my pre prego fat ass. SO, YOU will look amazing in no time!! I remember the days looking longingly into my closet for something cute to wear and finding nothing that I could fit past my thighs.. but you're only 3 months out, another month (if not sooner) you'll be all teeny and hot, and people like me will hate you for looking so fabulous after birthing 5 children!!! ;) xoxo

you guys rock:) thanks for making me feel a little better...I do need to say though, that it was a walk and not a run. People keep asking me how my run was and now I feel like I gave the wrong impression. When I try to run, everything is very...bouncy;)

I have to ask- is the title of your post quoting a scene from Madagascar (the second one)? There's a scene that my daughter loves when this gigantic male hippo walks up to a gigantic female hippo and says "girl, you huge" Your title make me chuckle, even if you're not quoting a children's movie! :)

I like em big. I like em chunky.

I like em round. I like em plumpy!

That song gets sung frequently here. I love me some moto moto

You go Brit girlie! I've been working out and trying to get my stomach flat again - um, not possible I decided. I have a mommy body but you know what? I AM a MOMMY. So I guess it fits.

It's amazing that you are feeling up to all of that (emotionally, physically, etc.) already. I commend you for "having it together". Run a little for me!

girlfriend, i'm feeling you on this one. i still look very much pregnant and today i'm sporting a maternity shirt. that's why when people ask how old lulu is, i'm still saying "a couple of weeks" instead of "three months". wonder how long i can pull that one off...
